Tree on Sunset

Here is my latest creation, Tree on Sunset. All of it made with reclaimed fence wood, including the frame! It measures 41″ wide by 20″ and is 2 1/4″ deep. I really like the contrast of the wood stain with the bright sunset colors. The tree is approximately 1/4″ thick, which gives it a little dimension.

Cereal Boxes

It’s been done before, but here is my take. This photo took several days to plan and set up to get the shadows and alignment just right. I got a piece of 4′ by 8′ plywood and painted it pink. I used 4 cans of spray paint to get an even coat! Getting the angle right was another challenge along with the light placement and light intensity. Both the background and the cereal boxes had a high gloss producing excessive glare. I ended up using a circular polarizer which worked perfectly! The end result reminds me of Wayne Thiebaud.

Good & Plenty

After the success of Bits and Pieces, I thought I would make a similar one, but darker. I’m happy with the way it turned out. I wasn’t planning on the color scheme turning out like a Good & Plenty, but it definitely turned out that way!

Sunset

My good friend Howard owns this piece I made. Sunset is made of reclaimed redwood from a fence in my neighborhood. After preparing the wood, I painted each strip individually, then glued them up. I’m really happy the way this turned out!

Bits and Pieces of Wood

I really enjoyed making this piece! I had boxes of scrap wood from other projects and I didn’t want to throw them away. It took me weeks to cut, paint and glue all of these together!  A very bright piece, it really illuminates the room!
